Competitions

Compete at FOUR Regional Competitions every season!

Tiny Dancers perform three times at each competition. They compete in Ballet, Jazz, and a production piece with the Apprentices and Scholars, in the Division 2 Level.
Apprentices perform four or five times at each competition, depending on belt color. Green Belts compete in Ballet, Jazz, two Contemporary pieces, and a Production piece with the Scholars. All other belt colors compete in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and a Production piece with the Scholars, in the Division 2 Level.
Scholars perform five times at each competition. They compete in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Contemporary, and in the Open Category, in the Division 3 Level.
Each performance will receive a score of Silver, Gold, or Platinum, depending on their performance compared to the other schools.
Each performance will receive an award, based on their score.
An additional Award for placing in the TOP 10 can also be awarded, if their dance makes it into the TOP 10.
All Regional Competitions are within the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Avant Garde Theatre of Dance participates in National Competitions.

National Competitions are by invitation or score acheivement only.

Rules on getting into Nationals:

At least one of your team's pieces must score at platinum level.
All dancers must agree to participate in Nationals.
We will do fundraisers to help raise money, but it is the parent's/guardian's responsibility to cover any costs that were not generated from fundraisers.
If travel outside of the state is required, we will attempt to all stay at the same hotel.
Nationals can be anywhere in the United States, all travel expenses are the parent's/guardian's responsibility.
